I can only think of one reason. whose classics did you learn your latin with ?

I learned with the best classics: Cicero, ...

Now, I get it... their latin was for politicians and lawyers, only the older latin text can teach you proper magical latin. All other languages including classical latin, have too much semantic shifts embedded to carry proper spells
